The Portland Marathon 10K Family Walk
The 10K Family Walk is an event for friends and family members of all ages and fitness levels. The Walk starts at the 20-mile mark of the Portland Marathon, on N. Willamette Blvd. by Columbia Park Annex.
The 10K Family Walk has a two hour open start, so walkers may begin at 8:00 a.m., or anytime thereafter, right up until 10:00 a.m., if they choose to do so. Shuttle buses will run from the finish area from 7:30 a.m. to Noon to carry Walkers to the start, and also to carry Walk finishers back to their cars for those who choose to park at the start.
The course traces the last 6.2 miles of the Marathon route, though 10K walkers stay on the sidewalk or to the right of the marathoners at all times. In addition to participating in their own fitness event and being able to enjoy the music and fanfare afforded the marathoners, our 10K Walkers also serve as a moving band of spectators to cheer on the passing Marathoners as they work their way along the last miles to the finish!
