The 10K Family Walk is a fun, untimed fitness event for friends and family members of all ages and fitness levels. The Walk starts at the 20-mile mark of the Portland Marathon, on N. Willamette Blvd. by Columbia Park Annex.
The 10K Family Walk has a two hour open start, so walkers may begin between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Shuttle buses will run from the finish area from 7:30 a.m. to Noon to carry Walkers to the start, and also to carry Walk finishers back to their cars for those who choose to park at the start.
Date: Oct. 5, 2014
Time: Anytime between 8:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. (not before 8:00 A.M.). Before 8am the course will not be secure from traffic and volunteers will not be in position to provide services and guidance.
Place: N. Willamette Blvd. at N. Woolsey, across from Columbia Park Annex.
$40 for adults and $30 for children under 12 and seniors 65 and older (This includes shirt, ribbon, and shuttle bus to start point). All participants must be pre-registered online.
Packet pick-up at the Portland Hilton on Friday during Expo. NO DAY OF RACE ENTRY OR PACKET PICKUP POSSIBLE.
For those Walkers who choose to park downtown near the finish area and then ride our shuttle buses to the start, they will begin running from the Salmon side of the Heathman Hotel (between Broadway and Park) at 7:30 a.m. The buses will continue to run until approx. 12 Noon to also transport walk finishers, who parked at the start area, back to their vehicles.
Walkers stay to the LEFT sidewalk of the marathon course until reaching N. Greeley, where they stay RIGHT until reaching N. Interstate where they are instructed to cross to the East (LEFT) sidewalk. Walkers must follow the sidewalk until N Larabee where walkers will be directed along N Larabee to N Broadway so they can cross Broadway and onto the South (LEFT) sidewalk of the Broadway Bridge. Walkers follow the sidewalk and turn on NW Couch to Naito and cross NW Couch to stay on the WEST (RIGHT) sidewalk of Naito to Salmon and on to the finish!
- This fun fitness event is not timed, and non-competitive. There are finisher medals and shirts for all finishers!
- FOR SAFETY REASONS, NO DOGS, NO BIKES ON THE COURSE.
- All those on the course must be registered and wear their bib number
