Oregon Partnership (OP) is the state's leading non-profit that partners with communities, educators, law enforcement, treatment providers and families to prevent alcohol and drug abuse in Oregon.
Over the past 15 years, we have provided annual substance abuse prevention programs and treatment referral services to more than 300,000 Oregonians.
ABOUT US
Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, we have a staff of 16 and a current operating budget is $2-million. Our board of directors includes leaders from law enforcement agencies, public and private companies, and other nonprofits; all whose lives have been touched by this important issue.
WHAT WE DO
ONE THE PHONE
We operate four 24-hour crisis lines where our trained staff and volunteers respond to more than 20,000 calls a year:
- HelpLine - 800-923-HELP - Confidential alcohol and drug crisis counseling and referral for adults.
- Suicide Intervention - 800-SUICIDE - The state's only certified suicide hotline, part of National LifeLine Network.
- YouthLine - 877-553-TEEN - Teen volunteers helping teen callers in crisis.
- Linea de Ayuda - 877-515-7848 - Spanish speaking crisis line.
IN THE SCHOOLS
- Our YouthLink drug and alcohol prevention program has educated more than 40,000 students in classrooms across Oregon.
- Our "Parents Teaching Prevention" program trains parents, grandparents and other adult volunteers to educate kindergartners through sixth-graders.
- Our "Parent Action Network" helps parents of middle and high schoolers form parenting groups to support one another in raising healthy teens. Additionally, we work with several groups of area high school students to create nationally-acclaimed anti drug and alcohol public service announcements.
IN THE COMMUNITY
- Our "Tackling Meth Tool Kit" is helping communities in Oregon and across the nation combat meth.
- We lead statewide public awareness campaigns on underage drinking, drug trends and parental action.
- We support and train community coalitions throughout Oregon who need support fighting drug and alcohol problems
- We lead a Portland task force - Community Action to Reduce Substance Abuse (CARSA) - to mobilize a comprehensive movement to reduce drug abuse in the greater metropolitan area.
IN THE PUBLIC POLICY ARENA
- OP is a leader statewide and nationally in efforts to reduce underage drinking by educating lawmakers weighing legislation that affects liquor laws, drinking ages, and prevention Our President/CEO, Judy Cushing, serves on the advisory committee of the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Service Health Services Administration. (SAMHSA) and is a nationally-recognized expert on drug prevention.
- In Oregon, OP serves on the Governor's Meth Task Force. We also host statewide summits to bring legislators, law enforcement, treatment providers and teens together for productive discussions.
